Umbrella Stand, Ystad Metall, Scandinavian / Swedish Modern

Gunnar Ander (1908–1976), one of Swedens most prominent glass and metal designers. Some of his most known work was made for Ystad Metall. This stylish umbrella stand in iron and brass. Signed underneath the brass plate. In good condition, few signs of age and wear. Ivar Johannes Wilhelm Ålenius-Björk, (1905- 1978) was a Swedish sculptor and designer. He worked for Ystad Metall Ystad Metall was founded in 1833, they mainly manufactured carriage and harness fittings, as well as chandeliers for churches in the surrounding area. In 1919 under manager Idoff Göransson's leadership, Ystads Metallindustri AB was formed. Manufacturing was focused on driven and chiseled work in both copper and brass. Over the years, a number of well-known designers were active at the company, such as Oscar Antonsson, Hans Bergström, Gunnar Ander, Carl-Einar Borgström, Ulla Fogelklou-Skogh, Hugo Gehlin, Ivar Ålenius-Björk, Anna Thulin, Stig Blomberg and Wiwen Nilsson.
