Coffee table in beautiful black Marquina marble, model Jumbo, designed for Knoll by Gae Aulenti in 1965. Square table top with four cylindrical cluster legs. Each leg weighs ca 20 kg and the table top ca 100 kg. Marquina marble is a high quality, black bituminous limestone extracted from the region of Markina, Basque Country in the North of Spain. This example is in great condition, minimal signs of wear. Manufactured by Knoll during the 21st century. . It will be delievered in the original well-kept wooden box. . Gaetana, aka Gae, Aulenti (1927-2012) studied architecture at the Milan School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University, graduating in 1954 as one of two women in a class of 20. She worked in fields as industrial and exhibition design, furniture, graphics, stage design, lighting, and interior design. The Jumbo table is today considered a true italian mid-century design classic.
